The next version of Lakka (with an updated RetroArch 1.9.9 version) is scheduled to be released very soon! I had an original XBOX modded to run emulators for this person before but they played it for many years and it finally died, so now I want to move them over to a device that does emulation better and looks more the part (a small SNES box).If you’d like to learn more about upcoming releases, please consult our roadmap here. My idea behind that is that if the card does become corrupt there is the possibility of me mailing a replacement which will copy the savestates to the new card so they can mail me the corrupt one to reimage. It's being built with a 2.4ghz SNES controller that uses a USB dongle and requires no pairing so it should be pretty close to a commercial grade consumer device.Īnother idea I have is to possibly send it with a USB sd card reader and set a systemd service to launch a script to mount an SD card and copy the contents from the savestate partition of that sdcard to the booted SD card. My thinking is that if the power is yanked all that will be lost are the save states created since boot. I'm going to add a systemd script to create a folder in /dev/shm and copy saves from a small R/O partition on the SD card to that location, and another systemd script with shutdown target to temporarily remount the savestate partition as R/W and copy the saves from /dev/shm onto it before unmounting. I've used a Kintaro case with power switch and setup the entire image to be R/O so it is less susceptible to sd card corruption if the power is yanked. I live 7 hours from the final home of the pi I'm building and it's for someone who is low income, partially disabled, and knows nill about technology (Think a 60 y/o person with a flip phone). I want to hide everything except the cheats themselves so its just a list of available cheats with a simple toggle for each one. ![]() In that menu I have everything except cheats hidden and kiosk mode set but the options "Start or continue search for cheats", "Append cheats", "Replace cheats", etc show. ![]() The part of the menu I want to hide is when you go into a core and choose the "quick menu". A simple menu button + L shoulder (load) and menu button + R shoulder (save) should work fine for savestates. This last little piece of the "pie" is all that's missing from making my pi user-proof enough for me to be confident in sending out to family who can't even turn on a PC. (This is something else I've done in the past and works very well on Raspian). Is there an additional cfg setting I'm missing that can hide these menu options so they only see cheats? Once I have all the options setup I plan on creating a small writeable partition for save-states and making the rest of the image r/o to make it less susceptible to sd card corruption with a bad shutdown/poweroff. I've renamed a cheat file to match the rom name and it auto-loads but the option to add/remove/append cheats is still in the menu. While I could just assign the RetroArch menu key to an unmapped button so they can't even open the menu (done this in testing and it works well), I'd like to include the option to toggle cheats on/off. Basically I'm building a RetroPie image for family and friends that live > 8 hours away so I'm needing to figure out a way to "kid proof/novice user proof" my image as much as I can. ![]() Greetings all, I'm looking around for the ability to customize the RetroArch menu even further than the "kiosk mode". ![]()
